5 gallons put fuel guage from E to F now car won't start???

it's an 88 TII. No mods except for a dirty cone filter.

So here's what happened:

Car is on jacks waiting for new caliper so I started it once in awhile to keep it running. It ran out of gas and shut down once so I left it for a week or so and then put in 2 gallons of gas. Tried to start it. Nothing. I left on vacation and when I got back tried to start it again and had nothing. I took off the filter and put some starter fluid in the intake and turned it and still got nothing. I didn't realize that even with the 2 gallons that I added the fuel guage still showed below E. I added 5 gallons of gasoline and it goes all the way up to F. I couldn't put any more gas in. Tried to start it again and it still did nothing. This time, on a fully recharged battery too.

the car has a 16.6 gallon tank and I added 7 to a tank that read empty. Now it is full? wtf? I thought the car was just vapor locked but apparently that is not the case.

Does anybody know why my 7 won't start?

Thanks in advance.

the tank rose from E to F only immediately after I put in 5 gallons of gas. There was something (hopefully gasoline) in the tank that was not being properly measured by the guage. Any ideas. It is impossible for someone to have added something to my tank without me knowing. The guage would have measured it.

first try to prime your fuel lines since you ran out.

jumper the fuel pump jumper in the front. and turn the key on for 30 secs to build fuel pressure back up.

make sure you can hear the pump in the back running.

first maybe pull your fuel pump out and take alook at it's filter. and then you'll know if the tank is full and what it is.
