5/6 ports on 91
5/6 ports on 91
How would I go about testing these to see if they are working?
I was idleing the car yesturday and rev'd her up manual looking at the actuater arms for the ports ( least i'm sure i was looking at them ) and they didn't move. I had the car least over 6k. Any way to test these babies to see if they are working right?

Some say they work under load. I've been told to put a paper clip at the base of the rod, go for a drive, then see if they've moved up. Or put a blob of grease at the base of the rod, go for a drive, and see if it got smeared.
I should point out though that this didn't work for me. I guess the grease I didn't have wasn't of the right consistancy (it would just come off), and I couldn't get a paperclip to stay. However, after just driving it for miles, I noticed that a certain amount of grime built up on the the rods and actuator, and I could see where the grime was rubbed clean where the actuators were working. Just not sure at what RPM they're actuating.
Also there's this, if you want to get all high tech and ****: http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/2ndgen/how-...port_light.htm

Tie wraps.
I use them on my shocks to see how much travel has been used.
You can run a vacuum gauge off the feed hose and see what it's doing while you drive around. And then if you have compressed air, you can feed the same pressure to the actuators and see what pressure they work at.

If it is an S5, the port actuators do not pull down like on the S4. Instead, they push the rods upward, which means the grease and paperclip/tie wrap methods won't work.
