CA 4point roll bar?

Hey guys and gals,

It's been a long time since I have been on here, but since summers here I thought I'd start working on the FC again. Its a 91 fc na coupe. So the passenger seat belt has stopped working and I have called Mazda to see if the recall had ever been on it. Sadlly it has so I have bought some 4point harness belts. I want to keep my stocks seats, but in order to do that I would need to install a 4point roll bar. What brands have you guys used, what should be the size for the tubing. I only track the car once in a while ( like 1-3times a year for fun). I am mostly doing this so that I can have my girl in the car with me and know that she will be safe in it. Also if you have pics of what your roll bar looks like that would be great too!

Autopower makes some decent bolt in stuff. Ran a full bolt-in cage in our ITB Volkswagen http://www.streetunit.com/Autopower_...p/ap-60590.htm

Not my thing (especially if it will be on track) but here's a harness bar

That Autopower one looks nice! Might be a little too much though for just a simi daily/sunday car. I found this one Jegster 945101K, Jegster ''Mazda'' Roll Cage Kits | Jegster.

It depends on what "track the car" means. Be sure to get a cage is legal in your racing class.

In that case you should go with one of the 6-point Autopower SCCA/NASA legal cages because they are designed for road racing collisions as opposed to the lesser cages that are only designed for drag racing or looking cool on the street. Regardless of what you get, be sure to put proper padding on the bars so that you do not get killed or maimed by bouncing body parts off a steel bar if you get in a wreck. You will also both need helmets. If you don't know how to properly mount the seat belts, see your racing rule book.

I don't do competitively, Just for fun. I'll check it out And Ill make sure to get padding, wouldn't like body parts flying around all ***** nilly. It will mostly only been driven on the street/freeway use.

That Jegs unit seems like a good deal for the price! I'm considering doing something similar to my car since that is so cheap.

Keep in mind that kit isn't approved for road racing by any organization, not that you need it to be, but that should tell you something about what it's made for. Honestly if a car is ever going to do anything more than autocross, a roll bar is a good idea if not a personal necessity in my mind. Speeds are high, **** happens, things break, others make mistakes. Autopower is pricey but they're good, solid products, they're made and certified for road racing, and to be honest, safety isn't something I ever skimp on. A cheap rollcage sets of alarm bells in my mind

Another thing I did not see mentioned was if you are planning on running fixed backed seats?

As far as I know the recall is good for the life of the car. Even if the seat belt has been fixed once, if it breaks again they still have to fix it. My passenger side has been fixed twice.

Blue devil, When I was talking to the Service consultant, he said that is was done once and thats all that they could do. And I want to keep my stock seats. Adding the roll bar would just force me to sit up straight now lol.
