411 rear end

I currently have a 90 convertible. I believe it runs a 383 in the rear or something like that. I'm wondering if a 411 that came from an FB would fit in my 90 convertible?

no...but the 430 from a TII will fit...well, you might have to get some other trinkets, too, but I can't remember.

Huh???

The stock rear end gearing on a all Turbos is 4.11, the same as for all 89 and later Convertibles.

Add in that the Turbo uses a 8 inch diff and the convertible uses the standard non turbo 7 inch diff. well the diff wouldn't even fit. You'd have to change the whole assembly which would require a custom drive shaft, and turbo half shafts to use a Turbo diff assembly on a Non turbo car.

The only North American FC with a 4.3 rear end gear was the 89-90 GTUs model.

No, the FB uses a 6 inch differntial.

And as mentioned above the 89+ verts all had a 4.11 rear end gear.

Of course this information can be found in the Standard Features and Options sticky thread found at the top of this section.

...text sucks for context, assumed sarcasm...

The MA70 and MA71 Supras for the MKIII variety, the MA70 starting in 1986 and the MA71 in 1987 (much like the FC). The MA70 is the 7m-GE powered N/A model, and the MA71 is the 7m-GTE turbo.

Lame? They're faster that RX-7's.:p

well since we have already crapped all over this thread...

Faster??? who cares??? There will always be at least one car faster than anything I can own.

But those 3rd gen Supras... They still weigh about the same as my V6 extra cab Tacoma... And handle about the same too.

there's no adequate raspberry smiley...

The third gens were only 100lbs heavier than the average 4th...and only 500 more pounds than the FC...may seem like a lot until you factor in that the NA's had more power than TII's, and the turbo's had a top-end remeniscent of my TL1000S.

Mine was a tremendous pig...scraped and cut and chopped and gutted and got her down to a meager 3400lbs, wet...bleh. But topping out at 155mph in an NA isn't that bad. The two cars are, ultimately, incomparable...designed for vastly different things. That's why I liked having both.

The MKII, however...that was the last REAL Supra...

ahhhhh...boob...you keep editing and adding more shiznit...my '89 handled remarkably well. Good suspension and sticky tires will let her hang with just about anything up to about 80mph...then that whole "intertia" thing starts taking hold...

I can just remember back far enough to when the FC RX-7 Turbos consistently beat the Mk.III Supra Turbos in the Australian Production Car Championship...

And since the original question has already been thoroughly and correctly answered, it can't really be crapped on.

Lesse...7MGE, 200hp; 7MGTE, 222hp.
Wow, what a difference a turbo makes! :P

BTW, you sure the FC rear end ratio is "4.11" and not "4.10"?
I always thought it was 41 ring gear teeth and 10 pinion teeth?

4.33 -> 39 ring gear teeth, 9 pinion teeth
3.90 -> 39 ring gear teeth, 10 pinion teeth

That's what happens when you pit a GT car against a sport on the track with similar power. The FD's did it with the MKIV's, too, and the MKIV's were throwing down almost 100 more wheel hp.

ANY N/A FC rear diff are interchangable, so YES the 89-91 GTUs 4.3 gear set will work (I sold my 4.3 set to SAMPS, who installed it into his vert) in your vert. BUT GOOD LUCK FINDING THE 4.3 GTUs diff for sale anywere. You can get them through mazdacomp and mazda trix as well NEW for a heafty price.

No, the GTU has the same 4.1 rear and that you currently have.

If you wanted a 4.3 rear end, you would want a 89-90 GTUs (note the small S), not a GTU
