Question 4 trailing plugs ??

When i got my used engine wich i had to take out of the wrecked car myself. There were 4 trailing spark plugs in it. Is there a reason for this or did someone just screw up?

It's just a harmless screw up. The trailing plugs are hotter and will burn out mush faster in the leading position.

You've got that backwards...BUR9EQ are trailing plugs. The higher the number, the COOLER they are.

You run 9's all around because they last longer in the leading position. Also, if you're lightly modded, then you want a cooler plug because of detonation. That and you can't get them mixed up!

the leadings will last longer. the above was wrong. the leadings will give a bit more low end power I think. if you're stock, just leave the stock plugs. modded turbos can run all trailings for a bit of safty. maybe a bit of top end gain.

Good god no. Do not run out and buy trailing plugs for the leading looking for a hp increase, b/c you won't find it.

I run 4 trailing plugs, but I have a T2 that runs 10 psi of boost.

This is not a mod for NA's... and hardly a mod at all. Not worth the money to change it until you're due for your next plug change.

I am in need of new spark plugs and wires. I have a stock 87 rx-7 sport and am putting on intake like real soon, and exhuast in a little while. Should I buy all trailing plugs too? Or should I get 2 trailing and 2 leading?

Unless you have some sort of power adder, stock plug set-up is optimum.

i had the local advanced auto buy 8 trailing ngk plugs for the rx7. 4 platinum, 4 copper Which ones should i buy? as i was told 4 trailings could be beneficial to me as i am running 10+ psi boost on a modified TII.

Thanks
Shane

ya most people with moded t2 run all trailing, i do in all of my t2. lol i flooded my rx8 and only had spare bur9eq(trailing plugs), i threw those in the leading fo the rx8 and it fired right up, put a couple thousand miles on them allready...
