4-port 12A manifold on T2

I recently purchased a streetported 91 Turbo II engine, which needed a rebuild. I intend to install a standalone fuel injection system on it eventually, but I thought that it should have good fuel mixture for the break-in (no experimenting with fuel maps.)

Although the 6-port NA in my car runs fine, it lacks sufficient horsepower (thus the need for the T II.) Obviously, the stock fuel injection would need to be modified to the turbo ECU and harness to get the T II to run with a stock configuration (too much work and additional expense just to break the engine in.)

I originally intended to do a straight swap for the turbo engine and use the stock fuel injection to break the engine in, but the 6-port manifold won't fit the 4-port T II.

It seems that the rotors, housing and end plate are the only difference between the 13b and the 12A and many have installed 12A end plates on a 13b to convert to a 4-port setup. It seems that the 12A intake manifold will fit these engines. I wondered if the 12A manifold would fit the T II, seeing that it is also a 4-port engine.

Looking at the pictures of 12A manifolds, the bolting appears similar, but maybe smaller ports (I can't tell for sure from the pictures.)

Before I spent the money on a manifold that may not work and would be useless to me, I figured that I could ask if anyone had done it.

Also, if anyone has a turbo II diff that I can buy, that would help a lot (I hate to destroy my NA diff.)

I doubt the 12A manifold would fit properly as the rotor housings are 10mm narrower, making the engine 20mm shorter. I would think the bolts/ports would not align due to this fact. Also the 12A manifold doesn't normally have a spot for the secondary fuel rail, as they were usually carbed.

The 6 port manifold will bolt up, as you can put a turbo manifold on a 6-port, but the ports don't quite line up. You could attempt to port match the 6 port LIM to the Turbo engine, if that's what you are trying to do for break in. People port the turbo LIM to fit a 6 port so the reverse may be possible.

Hopes this helps you,
Vincent

So if I removed the port actuators and port sleeves and plugged the resulting holes with something, I should be able to run a T II on my NA fuel injection? (I would only need to do this for 300-500 miles to break the apex seals into the housings.) If it is that simple, that would be great.

I wondered what the difference between the 13b and 12A was, now I know, 10mm on the housing and rotor depth.

I guess I will need to try the manifold on for size then.

Thanks.
