4-Bolt to 5-Bolt conversion

Okay. I searched for a good 2 hours using our oh so good search feature. I found very little to nothing information wise.

WHERES THE WRITE UPS?

Im trying to figure out if I have everything I need. Alls I found was a bunch of threads on, 'I think', 'Maybe', 'Direct Swap' <--- with no details to follow.

I intend to do an archive worthy thread once I gather all the information on the swap I can, since there IS NO thread in the archive.

Unless Im a complete Dumbass, there must have been 1000 people done this swap and nobody took the time to do a write up.

Sorry, Im kinda frustrated. Im going to go for a drive in my Phone Dialer 4-Bolt FC and cool off.

Oh I'll do one. Definetly. Why? Because Im a nice enough guy to do something like that for the community.

I think I might hit up google for some information. As much as I hate google, this forum aint much better for this conversion.

Can't you just go to the junkyard and pull off the steering knuckle from a 5 lug and bolt it in? I do believe the brake lines are the same.

I have been wanting to do the 4 to 5 Lug conversion since I got my cars... I would like to see the procedure comlete with pics..PLEASE!..I hate buying two different sizes of tires..If I had the swap I could interchange wheels and tires with my "other" car!..

settle down, it's very easy, i didn't need a write up, but after doing it i can give you a few tips and with those you should be fine. If the pads and rotors are good on the donor parts then just bolt the new spindle, you need the softline from the donor car as i recall. ohh and many people don't do it but i highly recomend using the brake booster off the 5 lug car since it's larger, i'm not sure if the proportioning valve is different or not but i used the one from the 5 lug donor car just to be safe. It's really just unbolting the old part and putting on the other one pretty easy nothing really tricky about but you might wanna have some PB blaster or something just in case

Also the balljoint tool helps. I swear i wacked the hell out of it before i got that tool and they came out hella easier. Basically just remember how it came off and it'll be easier. I ended up switching all the brake lines even metal since mine had single calipers up front to switch to the four piston ones. If I'd buy i digital camera i could have done a wirte-up since I just did it last week while I was cleaning the engine bay and painting it.

more wheels options (cheap stock wheels from S14, Z32, FD, etc), and bigger brake rotors with a better, 4 piston caliper.

If you get the vented rears, that's a good thing as well.

I did a half-assed write-up here: here
Remove the hubs from the halfshafts, don't unbolt the halfshafts from the differential like I did.

I also eventually changed out the booster and proportioning valve from the donor car.
