3rd gear, high rpm, engine shut down

hey.
i have a 91 n\a vert and at high rpm's in 3rd gear i get a complete fuel cut, like, the engine shuts down until i slow back down and put it in second. third gear is completely useless when this happens. this just started happening about a week ago.
anyone know why this is happening? it starts at around 6000 rpm.

thanks,
i searched but nothing very informative.

is it ONLY in 3rd?
and yes, most systems were the same on tii and other models, but not all, so don't assume that is so

Can you ease it up past 6,000 in 3rd without full throttle? Are you sure it's fuel cut and not detonation?

but there still is a problem though

i shouldn't have my engine shut down at 6000 rpm's right there.

i'm pretty sure it's not detonation cause i don't hear any pinging. it's just like a take my foot off the gas at any other speed/gear.

it just freaks me out when this happens. PLUS... i did an ATF treatment after it happened the first time. and it still does it. i haven't tryied it in 4th gear if that is any indication of the problem.

basicaly i'm taking that no one but me has ever had this happen to them in a non turbo car.
this sucks.

there is no fuel cut in non turbos... your engine shouldn't cut out untill 8800rpm when the rev limiter hits.

Please describe the condition in more detail if you would. Are you WOT-wide open throttle when it happens? Can you let off a little to avoid it?
