Angry 3rd clutch with only 63 000 on the ticker

hey, i just bought my 88 GTU a few months ago, and im getting the clutch installed as we speak, but i was wondering, this car went through two stock clutches with only 63 000 miles on it, anyone know of any problems that would cause this?.... i know the previous owner could have just ridden with his foot on the clutch while he was driving, but what about oil getting on it or some ****, how would i check for this? the second clutch was slipping when i got the car and i babied it, im getting the flywheel turned too. any help is appreciated, thanks guys

My first car, a Mustang, had three clutches in two years. First one just wore out, the other two were not really installed right, I think.
DO NOT EVER but a rebuilt clutch. buy all NEW parts.

I just finished doing my clutch. I put on a new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, TO Bearing, Pilot Bearing, Front and Rear Transmission Seals, Rear Main Engine Seal, Speedometer Cable O-Ring, Transmission Mounts, Motor Mounts, Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder, Hydraulic Line, and Mobil 1 Synthetic Lube. Holy crap...did I really spend that much money???? Anyway...the clutch feels like new now and it's much easier to disengage than the old one which was leaking. My clutch was slipping too...only thing is the disc was barely worn...not much different than the old one. Just be sure to check all the pedal adjustments per the FSM. I'd say if you drive it right you should be able to get well over 100K miles on a factory clutch.
