3K rpm ECU switch over?
I rode in an FC that I was looking to buy for a second car. The car was an 88 GTU that was stock except for a true dual exhaust and a CAI with the appropriate Ebay filter. The exhaust wasn't even mandrel bent but was effective anyhow b/c this car hauled ***, it's 0-60 time was in the 7's for sure.
The 5th 6th ports were wired open and the guy selling the car would lift off and kick the throttle and hold it there at 3K rpm. He was telling me that the ECU would go into "another mode" and it seemed to work. I rode with him just taking it from idle to redline with no throttle trickery and a second time with him jerking the throttle and the second run seemed much quicker. Can anybody explain this? Is this just a miscalibratino in the butt-dynometer or is there such a thing as a second mode?

OK, well that settles that one.
As for the exhaust, I never looked down to see if he had headers or not. He must have in order to have true duals though. No cat, just a cheap set of ebay mufflers on the back and there you go.
