3000 RPM start up

my car doesnt start a 3000 RPMs in the contrary when i turn on the car i have to keep the gas peddle pressed or the car turns off what could be the problem?

check the square green plug that plug into the alternator side on the thermostat housing

ithis happens first i turn on the car rpms go to 1500 for 1 sec then they drop and keep droping if i dont press the gas ot shuts off and it sounds really rough when i give it gas then like 10 secs later i can hear the engine's noise change.

and then the rpms stay at 750

Functionally check the rad water temp switch (lower left corner, if applicable). Should be closed above about 60*F...

Good-sized vac leak will also render the 3K system invalid...

BAC system still operational on the car? If so, check it per the FSM or Haynes...

Do that (either do a search or use the FSM) for the TPS, and check for vac leaks, among the other items mentioned by everybody...
