cuting funds is the easiest way to destroy a high power engine, your going to be spenind 10k+ as is so why not a few hundered more to do it the right way?

Easy install, I did everything by myself motor slid in with no problem. I used common hand tools and an engine hoist. I have a 2 car garage and 4 jack stands. If I can pull off this swap anyone can. Brian Hinson is a big help and answered all my questions. I did have to wait on parts so order them ahead of time. I just added a zex nitrous kit not shown in pic.

I would actually like to know this as well, who does and who doesn't. I heard a while ago that dowl-pinning is not as necessary as people make it out as..and the idea of someone messing up my motor, trying to add more dowl pins, just scares me :O

Not dowled, no coolant mod (never even heard of this).

Lots of schools of thought on the subject of dowling. I maintain that its not necessary at this power level.

I bet a certain vendor told you that.

It's a good idea, but not absolutely necessary. Really, you start to get into the need to dowl around 450 HP...

I've been pushing ~400 to the wheels for over 25k miles now on a s4 with no mods to the block.

when my setup is dyno'd I would be happy if I got 8k miles out of the motor at over 500 rwhp. I plan to have a RE built to the hilt when this built s4 goes
