3 wire to 2 wire alt. connector

Does anyone know how to hook up a 3 wire S/IG/L to a 2 wire S4 "T" plug alternator connector? The RX7's have L(idiot light)/IG(trigger) I believe. Would the "S" (sense) be hooked up to a 12V source ???
Someone (electrical guru) MUST know this.

what kind of altenator are you tyring to jury rig into that car???

I take it that the altenator doesn't have a ring post on it like the stock altenator and that all connections are made at the plug.

If so, you would have to cut the ring off the wire on the harness that normall connects to the top of the stock altenator and then solder that wire onto the "s" wire from the new altenator.. assuming you have the three wire connector for that altenator.. if you dont have the connector, makes sure you get covered (insulated) connectors before you wire it up or you will fry everything if they touch.

If that alt does have a ring terminal on top... The. i dunno.. get an FD alt!!!

Use at your own risk or better yet don't. If I were you, I would not do it unless you really know what you are doing and you know how to test the voltage and current output of the alt (if possible in somebody else's car ).

see how it works here (Toyota alts):

http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h8.pdf

The S goes to positive battery post

The IG goes to switched ignition (the side away from the battery positive)

The L goes to the check engine light (the side away from the battery positive)

You'll need the S4 FSM to see what the setup is on the 7.

It's just a spare alternator and looking at it since it is a 110Amp. There is a ring for the battery post and a 3 wire connector S/IG/L.

Ack **** it.... it's not that important anyway. Thanks for the response.
