2nd Generation Trim and Year Differences?
Hi there! I'm hopefully going to get a 2nd Gen soon, and I'd like to know the differences between, GX, GXL, GTU, etc, and if there were differences in years. I'd like to know exactly what I'm seeing when I look at stuff in the paper. Also, what's this S4, S5 stuff I keep hearing?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Like Icemark said, use the search option and there will be massive amounts of explanations.
Here's a basic rundown so you don't get your wires crossed while trying to wade through the info.
S4- 1986-88 black moulding, square tail lights
143hp na 186 turbo
S5- 1989-91 body colour moulding, round tail lights,
updated front grill
160hp na 200 turbo
GXL - luxury model
TII - turbo
GX - mid model
GTU US SE Canada - base model
GTUs - rare normally aspirated (collectors item)
most sought after FC is the S5 turbo or the GTUs

The Canadian GX was the same as the USA 86-87 Luxury coupe and the 88 SE.
The Canadian GS was the same thing as the USA spec 86-87 Sport model.
The USA GTU in 88 was the Sport model, while in 89-90 the GX/SE/Luxury model was renamed the GTU, and the former GTU was renamed the GTUs.

Just posted to give him a rough idea.
My knowledge lies mostly with the S5's because that's what I have. In Canada the S5's came in these trim levels.
SE
GX basically the SE but with storage bins and a few
other minor notables
GXL
TII
a few GTUs made their way up here I think.
The GXL was always the luxury model up here, no matter S4 or 5.
We'd probably have to do some more digging to come to a consensus about these discrepancies.
