Granny's Speed Shop has an excellent conversion package. Plan on changing to a live axel rear, the stock one will NOT handle that kind of horsepower unless you baby it. Yes, the rotary is a great engine, and yes they will last 150K-200K miles, but you can't beat 355 horsepower and 400 foot-pounds of torque and NOTHING sounds better than a V-8, NOTHING... I have an all-aluminum V-8 ready for mine....

Damn, Jim, that seriously stinks. Wish I would've known that before I bothered posting the link.

Like your last post in the thread, maybe he deserves a little more publicity.

RX406-

SOunds like you will have a wild setup when you are done. The stock rear diff should hold up to the power as a few guys have run low 10's on the N/A rear diff with 350/NOS combo and powerglide. I've run tons of passes at the strip with 450ft/lb+ tq and around 400hp with no problems. Others have pushed around 500hp thru them with no problems either. Automatic transmissions are easier on parts than manuals I'm sure you know. In the next 1-2 months I plan to test out and see how much power the stock T2 diff can handle as my goal is some high 9's.

You can swap a T2 differential into your car also but it requires T2 halfshafts as they are unique. Easy swap and gives you an 8" ring vs. the 7" N/A unit.

I would recommend an overdrive transmission as the stock gearing is either 3:90 or 4:10 and you will buzz the engine at high rpm's too much with a 1:1 final gear. A TH200-4R would handle the power if properly modified and allow for a 3-4 WOT upshift. If manual is your preferred method either a Tremec TKO or T56 as other transmissions won't live up to the power.

Aside from doing a custom diff setup out back you are stuck with either 3:90 or 4:10. Going to lower gearing won't help any as you will blow the tires off even more.

Get over the V8RX-7 messageboard:

I've been contemplating whether to use a powerglide or turbo 350. I have both. Granny's suggested using the glide but I dont know. My engine was built originally for use in a semi-late model stock car on a 5/8 mile track. I would routinely turn 8000 rpm into the corners, so I guess cruise rpm at 4500 would be ok. I dont plan on daily driving the car. It will be too radical.

I have a couple more questions though.
1. I would like to go with manual brakes. Is this feasable?
2. Can manual racks be found for these cars? What does the change involve?
