Question 2nd Gen question

Ok, I just bought an 88 FC n/t to start a new project. My question is, how much of a hastle is it to swap the newer generation 13b into the FC chassis? I am going to convert my FD back to stock and want to use the single turbo, aem ems, front mount, etc. off of it but im not sure if they will just bolt on. anyways, please let me know if you have done this swap and how easy/difficult it is.

The search engine on this website is your friend.

It can be done but it is time consuming and costly.

The problem is that all the wiring is different, dunno if other stuff is different to. Ya, just search. Basically it's do-able but not easy.

Putting a turbo on an NA is very hard, probably much worse than wiring, but technically do-able (and done before). Not common or recommended. Everything requires custom fabrication. Again, search.

The most common, cheapest, easiest and "best" approach is to swap in the entire turbo motor from the same series, or just start with a turbo car. Beware of JDM turbo engines, most need a rebuild just a few days/weeks after installation. Their warranties don't cover trouble after installation. Convenient, huh?

Thanks guys. Ill check it out, the wiring isnt a problem cuz it needs a complete re-wire anyway. Ill definately do some more research. Hey blackfd3s87, hows the rotary scene in Omaha? I grew up there and am coming back this october for my cousin's wedding. If the car is done by then I'll have to drive it out.

Huge pain in the butt. This is well covered in the FAQ. The FAQ has links to multiple threads covering the process of putting the REW into an FC.
