Question 2nd Gen Question

Hey all you 2nd Gen Nuts! I have been looking at getting a 2nd Gen for a few thousand. I just want one so I can run the hell out of it and not worry about putting money in it to fix it. I might have found one but not sure. The site says the body is in good condition but the engine needs work, Its says "Crank no fire" what could this mean? What should i look for when buying an 2nd Gen?

Phat97Caddy,

Hey welcome to the forum.

Could be a few things. How many miles is on the engine vs the car?

An NA (non turbo), specifically an 89-92 GTU, GTU-S, or GXL would do you good. Just as long as the car was maintained, you pull good compression scores from a Mazda dealership, it accelerates well without any hiccups, and idles well.

If you have a little more to spare, go for the convertible. It's heavier/slower than the GTU, but it's cooler
