Well you either advance or retard the timing, if you advance I wouldn't go above 10 unless you have a modified or piggy back ecu to flow more fuel cause you can detonate (right term?) the engine because it runs leaner and leaner the more advanced the timing gets. It does give you a definate boost in low end HP but you may get flat spots in the overall powerband
