Here's the post. Damn this "busy serve!"

In reading the forum, it seems that the 2nd gen RX-7 is a much more finicky car than the 1st gen. Based on the posts, there are a lot of unique problems that occur on 2nd Gen cars (e.g. flooding, turbos, electricial issues). Anyone have thoughts on this?

The FC's have a lot more electrical bugs than the FB's.

I think the SA/FB is pretty much the same as a FC as far as overall reliabilty. Its just different things go wrong on a SA/FB than a FC (or for that matter a FD).

Like SA models often have points probs, choke probs, fuel pump, rust, etc while the FC its often things like cold solder joints in brains (which the SA/FB doesn't or has in limited numbers), clogged leaky injectors (common if the fuel filters are not changed when required) that cause flooding, and other minor things.

Although I do think the plastic used in the FC (and FD) is not as good quality as the SA/FB.

FB-had problems with choke\solenoids going bad\ACV\shutter vavle (carbed 12As)\TPS (13B)\noisy LSD\

FC-wiper switch\shifter bushings\turbos (I love mine though, I wouldn't trade it for a 250 HP FB)\OMP (more so in S5)\switches\crappy plastic

They all have their problems, and benefits. I love my FB cause it's light, I love my FC because it's mucho faster.

So if the question is more finicky, the answer is no. Just different common problems.

the turbo fc's are definatly pickier, everything has to be just right in order for the car to even idle, the first gens will just idle high

not true for the carbed ones. I had a vacuum leak on this one hose and the damned thing wouldn't hold an idle after the choke cut off. Fixed the hose, fixed the idle.
