2nd gen to 3rd gen alternator switch

I heard that the 3rd gen alternator runs more amps than the 2nd gen. Is it a direct bolt-in or does modification need to be done to make it fit?

It basically drops in. The only modification needed is to the wiring. You will need a bigger loop connector for your battery lead. Also, your +12V reference lead will not come from switched igniton anymore. You wire that to constant +12V...
