20b-tt in FC3S, shootin flames

hey guys, whats up? i picked up my 2nd fc last week. 1987...red...non turbo GXL. The motor is blown, and i am thinking of what i should do for a replacement. i used to have a champagne 1987 with a 350 from a firebird. it hauled some serious ***, but with the rising gas prices ($1.00 a LITRE!) i think i want to do the right thing and put another rotary in .

I want to do either a 13b-t or a 20b-tt. what would be involved in swapping the 20b-tt in? i have heard they only come in automatic. (can i use my stock tranny?) thanks.

ALSO!

I have seen a few drifting videos with some FC's and sometimes you see them shooting flames. do the rotarys do that when you downshift or is it a kit that some guys use? im interested in gettin the ol' fc to shoot some flames with the new motor.

THANKS A LOT!!!

Well, i have no imput on the motor swap being that i have no experience of that nature..but its been covered many times. Do a quick search and you'll find all the info you need. As far as flames go, a rotary motor is naturally a pretty fuel efficient motor, however it can be deadly when subjected to a lean period. In order to keep that from happening, from the factory they come running pretty rich therefore leaving quite a bit of un-spent fuel. Stock exhaust systems will keep the results of that down to a backfire, but once you open up that exhaust flow and remove all restrictions you'll throw flames naturally. No kit of any kind needed. I hope my information is accurate, as thats how i've come to understand it. Best of luck to you and your project Sir.

A lot of money would be involved for the 20b..

Flames come from a rotary that doesnt have any emissions equipment, tb mod, and running rich, sometimes. Those basic things yield flames for some people, but then other people like me still dont shoot flames with that.

You would need a turbo 2 tranny, a custom driveshaft, and about 7-10k for all the other ****, parts and labor.
Good luck.

well youd prolly want to put in a full turbo driveline to handle the power, the n/a drivetrain wont work very well with healthy amounts of torque, something that either the 13bt or 20b would bring alot of.
