20b engine swap help???

20b engine swap help???

i have a 88 gtu and im looking to possibly drop a 20b into her. i know where to get engine mounts, but what else will i need? ecu, tranny, or engine bay adjustments?? those of you who have done this, or if you know someone who has done this, or you just have an opinion on the matter, i need all the help i can get. or should i just scrap the idea and port my n/a stock engine, its only got 80,000 miles on it.

My opinion is that an NA is a bad platform for a 20B conversion in most cases. The TII hood, drivetrain, and power brake booster will work with a stock 20B-REW, while the NA components will not. You would probably be better off selling the NA car and buying a TII with a blown engine. Here is a web site that lists the basic issues involved in a 20B FC conversion.

The 20B swap is a complicated custom procedure, and there isn't really any one way to do it. Yes, you would probably be better off rebuilding your stock NA engine and adding a $200 street port along with the rebuild. However, the 20B swap would be much more interesting and challenging if you have a lot of time and money to spend on your car.
