are you kidding me??

first off 2 stroke oil burns much more complete and cleaner than 4 stroke sump oil period...... last i checked that is what it was designed to do

second...... what kind of ratio do you think weed wackers and bikes use??

most around 32:1............ that is 4 times the oil used than with a ratio of 128:1 like what we are talking about, so do you think it is gonna smoke some??

Premixing is a no brainer IMHO..... have you ever cracked a premixed engine vs a OMP engine???

My current engine has the polished rotors you see in my profile along with good yamalube premix...... i looked in the exhaust ports awhile ago and they look damn near like that picture still, no carbon whatsoever........

The OMP is a conevience item.

One reason for not over oiling , excessive oiling can cause ignition redet.

I have felt power loss from premixing. I added 1.5 quarts to a tank of gas on the way to an autoX to "prevent engine damage from hard use" (that was a mistake). The car felt about 70% as fast and smoked like a chimney.

On the other hand, I usually use 1/2 quart per tank of gas and have no problems with smoke or power loss.

I do get a cloud of smoke if the car has been driven gently for 2 thousand miles or so and is then redlined.

1/2 qt per tanks works out close to 1oz per gallon....... 1.5 qts is way to much

Exatly my point: you can have smoke and power loss if you use too much 2-cycle oil, but normal levels (128:1 or 1 pint per tank) is not a problem.

I guess I wasn't very clear the first time.

if you have the OMP functioning, you should not exceed 5 oz per tank!

Yea, ratio is a valid point... dont get me wrong, I'm no rotary expert, & I dont even pre-mix, but there's been a couple of threads on the subject, & I'm considering it. The OMP system is still funcitoning fine, & my engine has 170k on... so, I'm hesitant to change any maintenance habits at this point.

I only spoke up, becase I did some motocross racing when I was a kid, & all 2-stroke bikes would blow blue smoke to some extent.

Premixing wont make your engine last longer if the engine was not premixed from day 1.

There is a lot more I would like to add to this post but I figured I would try to be nice.

Protek R doesn't smoke, at least not that I can tell. Though if you mix too much in it will burn your nose, and kill people behind you in traffic with fumes.

1 oz. per gallon, 12-13 gallons a fill up, convienient ~12 oz. bottle that I fill from a gallon bottle of Protek.
