2 questions... who has removed this rats nest? and...

First question, who has removed this rats nest and all the metal hoses and what not involved in it:

Second question; would i be able to use these lines (that used to go to my TB) as feed and return lines for my turbo? This may sound really stupid but, which way is the coolant flowing in the hose? And is there a diagram that shows on the turbo which is the coolant feed, and which is the return? I cant find any usefull diagram s4 FSM on the turbo (im using an s4 turbo/manifold)

typically your feed and return lines for your turbo flow oil to cool it.there are water cooled turbo's which i guess you're trying to do but as far as i know the stock S4 and S5 turbo's are oil cooled so you'll want to try to find somewhere to fab oil feel and return lines.

Look for Aaron Cake on the forum, he has already done the turbo conversion and has a great writeup on his site... I believe there is a link in the FAQ at the top of this forum, read it and you will find most of your questions answered there!

Good Luck!

Sup bud. I did the vac rack removal last winter... Its pretty straight forward. Buy about 5 feet of vac line, and about 6-8 feet of fuel line. And expect to get raped paying for "fuel injection" fuel hose. Project84 swears buy it, but its like $8/foot.

So what is the benefit of removing the rats nest that once was on the side of that engine? and how would it be beneficial--aside from making less clutter?

thanx,
Matt

um... it makes less clutter...

thats about it.

You wouldn't understand that unless you spend alot of time in your engine bay. Once you start to though, you'll begin to understand the complete nuisance that presents itself in the form of that fickung vac rack

EDIT: plus dezerte is going out on a limb to make a pretty custom system here (6-always open port turbo.) All that emissions stuff is pretty much a joke at this point of modification...

theres a writeup in the archive, its pretty straight forward though. The only dificult part is keeping mind to what needs to stay. (Fuel lines, fuel injector bleeds, fuel regulator switch, VDI, ect)

EDIT: and dezerte, you need a double alt pulley pronto

Yeah, removing the rats nest, AC/PS/ACV, Twin Scroll, OMP, EGR, BAC, charcoal canistor, going to an electric fan, cruise control, and everything else I removed made my engine compartment look pretty uncluttered..

Rats nest will take about an hour or two depending on how competent you are.

DEZERTE

Use the same fuel line from the "rats nest". I separated the fuel lines from the "rats nest"

http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/...r/P6240010.jpg

Then I attached the fuel lines portion back

http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/.../Fuel_line.jpg

At "Auto Zone", I bought a pack of "block off nipples" and used those to block off the left over nipples.

The stock turbos are both oil and water cooled. Please don't spread misinformation.
