2 questions on na performance

ok for my non turbo s5 im getting my racing beat road race exhaust and custom piping from a shop. should i get 2 inch piping done or 2 1/4 piping. im probrably going to have them weld it to the stock mufflers until i get more money for a better exhaust. no cats because i got the air pump to open my 56 ports.

another thing i was told i could rev to about 11 grand with stock s5 rotors just needed to beef up the oil system add a extra oil cooler is this true any help would be good thanx

i dont think the stock flywheel is ever supposed to go above 10,000 rpm's because itll fly off and kill people.

To rev that high you need all sorts of internal upgrades to the engine. I believe you also need an upgraded ignition system too. I'm sure theres more you need so hopefully one of the mods or resident gurus will post here. I'm confused about your exhaust setup. You said you are getting the RB road race system but then said custom piping from a local shop. RBs exhaust comes with everything you need from the engine back so do you just have the road race header or what? Oh and the piping size is 2" on the RB kit so you'll prolly want the same.

No need to rev to 11 grand. It won't make any more power up there and will just cause unnecessary wear and damage.

That is true, to make any power that high you need some crazy porting, like pp or maybe a huge bridge but I'm not even sure if that would work.

Whoever told you that, never listen to their "advice" again...

The higher you rev it, the faster you will wear things out. You should get on the dyno and see where it makes max power/torque and take that info into account.

Found this a few days ago on a site somewhere:
WARNING: None of the Flywheel or Clutch components
shown in this site should ever be allowed to exceed
10,500 RPM under any condition. This same RPM limit
applies to stock components. You must use an engine
RPM-limiter to prevent excessive RPM. If your engine is
capable of exceeding 8,500 RPM you must install a
transmission scatter shield, or ballistic blanket.
Failure to implement the above may result in serious
injury or even death.

The inside diameter should be about 1 3/4", which would probably apply to the 2" piping.

You may want to check the condition of your mufflers first. It is highly likely that they are in really bad shape after about 15 years of use.

Unless there is something wrong with your current header or primary system, I think you are going about this backwards. Given that the mufflers usually wear out before the header, most people who have a tight budget start with a catback exhaust, and then upgrade the remainder later.

If there is nothing at all wrong with the current exhaust system, my personal choice would be to save my money and buy a complete exhaust system all at once.

In its current configuration, your engine makes its peak hp around 7,000 rpm, and peak torque around 4,000 rpm. Even if your engine were capable of operation at 11,000 rpm, your shift point would still remain below the stock 8,000 rpm redline.
