2 questions for my boys with 3'' d/p 3'' piping and a big exahust and no cats
OK so I have 2 questions that have been on my mind...OK so I just put on my d/p and exhaust with 3'' piping....with I backfire and spit a flame hole bunch of smoke comes out with it also, is that normal?? Also when you start you 7 and it smokes a lot but then goes away when it gets to opp. temp it goes away is that also normal?
What color is the smoke? Does it smell sweet, or like oil?
Number of things can cause your car to smoke... Turbo, coolant seals (my guess that if your cooant seals were toast, it wouldn't stp smoking, oil contol rings/seals...
If its white, and smells sweet, chances are you are burning coolant
If it's blueish, its probably oil.

and if you think you're burning coolant
take off your coolant pressure cap and start your car with it off and look for little bubbles.
This is exhaust pushing through the coolant seals and means you need to rebuild your motor.
P.S. dont take off the overflow tank cap and expect bubbles lol, its the other one!!!
could it be blowby? is the little hose attached to your oil filler neck?

um it's usually normal for it to smoke a tad bit on start up because oil pools in the bottom of the rotor housing when turned off and when you turn the car back on it has to burn all that oil out so it does smoke some. How much are we talking about here? Open exhaust on an rx7 usually does yeild some back firing witch most people seem to like, lol. How much smoke are we talking about here as well? Also what you may want to do to reduce the amount of backfiring is to properly tune your car with an safc or something like that.
