Hey!
Sorry about your luck. You put on an ohm meter and try to trace it back to the computer.I am not sure what the pin-outs are.Maybe try the F.S.M.While you're at it,do your grounds if you haven't already, use contact cleaner and no-ox on your connectors, and maybe trace other components to make sure they are connected correctly. In the future, the little bit of time and money spent labeling things will serve you well.Best of luck!!

I'm guessing that your engine is a series 5? If so the first one is the coolant temp connector. Check right below and in front of the oil filter. There should be a little tab sticking out for that to go on. See if thats it. The second one must go to emissions or something because mine isn't connected.

The words on the attached jpg explain the existance of the second plug.
What are/is the wire color on the wire in the first picture?
The water themp sensor is just below and slightly fwd of the oil filter and oil pressure sender. It cannot cause the engine to act funny in any way. Ever. I'd suggest that if the gauge isn't working, and it was recently, then the connector is off the water temp sensor.

There is a water temperature sensor below and slightly fwd of the oil filter. It takes but one wire and has a yellow/white wire on it. IT only effects the GAUGE.
There is a water THERMO sensor on the BACK of the water pump HOUSING that has two wires. One is green/white and the other black. That sensor effects the ECU and the running of the engine. Yes it can cause problems if the contacts inside the plug don't mate with the contacts on the jack of the sensor.
The connector with a single black wire........got me. Unless the other end of that wire is connected to a one inch square, black waffer that is bolted to the engine. Then it MIGHT be the wire to the oil pressure condenser. IF that is the case, then it attaches to a yellow/red wires connector. The yellow/red is the same color as the wire attached to the oil pressure sensor itself. There is ANOTHER yellow red spliced to that one and that one goes to the oil pressure condensers wire (black wire).
The picture of the round plug ....if its a green/black wire and you have no auxillary ELECTRICAL fan in front of the radiator, then it goes to nothing at all. IF you have a stock electrical fan in front of the radiator, then that green/black wire goes to a water temp SWITCH . I see no such item on your car. So it goes nowhere. There are several *goes nowhere plugs on most cars* due to your car not coming/being ordered with those items
The gauge sensor is shown in the attached jpg.
