2 metal lines on top front of engine?

Hi all, almost got my engine back and ready to start. Just have a few lines that have no connections and Im a little confused on what they are and where they go.

First one, is connected to the oil catch can. Its the bigger hose that runs all the way over the engine on the firewall and then turns into the engine bay on the drivers side. What does that connect to? Im guessing the plug in the oil fill neck? I dont have any hoses that would get it there. (also I have a plug in my oil fill neck I need to figure out where that goes. ) OH BY THE WAY I have the rats nest removed, maybe thats why I am running into these issues.

Also I have 2 hoses that are on the same line. They are on top of the engine, twards the front that run right past the alternator. It is 2 metal lines that have one going to the top of the turbo. The other one I have a hose on each end but they dont go to anything. Any ideas where they my go?

I guess that is it for now. Im sure I will have a few more in the future. lol check back.

Thanks for the help!

There is no oil catch can...

The two metal lines are for the PCV system and the turbo oil supply. The PCV system also connects to the oil fillter neck. See the schematic in the FSM, page 4B-88.

Nope. The check valve on the left is the metal one plugged into the TID. The 3-way check valve is at the fuel tank.

Thanks to the FSM and NAconvertible I finally put the peices togather and it hit me! the black plastic intake tube! (DUH after I look at the FSM) That is the passenger side hose I couldnt figure out! I guess its a bleed or something. *Shrugs*

anyways, I still cant figure out the the other end of that hose / pipe when it runs from the passenger side to the driver side. It looks like it Tees off somehow, but I dont know how. It looks like it MIGHT connect to the oil inlet, but in the FSM it has 2 things coming off the oil inlet.

What does the purge valve look like? and where is it?

After I figure this out I Think I will be able to crank her over and fix all my other problems I dont know about yet.

and again THANKS NAconvertible!

Soooo what I really need pictures or better explaining is the place that has a red box around it.

So for all I have on the driver side is the hose that comes from the charcoal canister, and a curly hose coming off the bottom of the oil inlet pipe. All I can figure out is maybe it goes into the throttle body somehow. (confused)

There's a tee in a metal pipe in the vac rack.

It looks like it MIGHT connect to the oil inlet, but in the FSM it has 2 things coming off the oil inlet.
Correct, that's because there are two connections; one nipple at the end of the oil filler pipe under the cap and one on the engine's centre plate right at the base of the filler pipe.

When I post FSM page numbers, I always hope people will get curious and keep looking further, but alas...

Turn the page and read all about the purge valve. Then go to the front of the chapter and look at the parts layout and vacuum routing diagrams. In fact read the whole chapter. There'll be a test...

Most of the piping is in the vac rack, i.e. hard piping. What exactly are you trying to do?

You don't necessarily need to keep all that stuff. I haven't had it for a couple of years. I just put two hoses of the vent nipples (oil filler neck and centre plate), ran them under the car and zip-tied tham to the fuel lines. This keeps the sump open-vented as it must be and keeps any oily vapour ouf the engine bay. No issues so far.
