Rotaries confuse me

my stock 89 auto non-turbo tops out just under 110 on clean 12 lane highway
and at about 3.5K RPM at that speed it feels like a golf cart heh
and since no one seems to have taken a stab at the massive size change in tires
well DUH. you really think you can go 3" difference on tires w/o causing massive changes to the way the car works. lol!!!!
where were you during middle school filmstrips in science class lmao

And you're talking about automatics. Nobody cares about those. I always just assume people have M/T's because the A/T's should be thrown out a 50th floor window.

What, is this thread turning into personal speed records thread? All I can say is that I would check the ports as suggested above... and not recommend taking your car to 140.
I use to take my 300ZX Z32 up to around 155-160ish, but I was a fanatic with details of making sure my tires were right, that my suspension geometry was good and it was a lot more aerodynamic then an FC. Of course I did take this project FB we have up to about 115 or so, which was stupid because the 13B was pulling nice but the tires/suspension was not up to it and the wander from the front end made me feel like I was piloting a boat.

The Cause of Death
+55,600 on checking your 5+6 ports. On an s5 they're activated with the air pump, so check that too. Make sure the aux ports aren't seized and what not.
FWIW I got my S4 NA, to 137 mph, took about 3 minutes. This was when it was stock, I hadn't tried since modding it.

for the record, i'm not driving 110 - 140 on a public street. i am NOT that dumb. The reason why i'm forcing my car to run like that is to test and tune because sometimes me and my friends get together and just have a race on the tracks near our place. it's for fun and giggles but who in the world likes losing all the time?

It is a manual.
Plus you were responding to me at the top of the page, but quoted someone else.
Yes my swapped vert is an automatic - GM 200-4R tranny. It's a cruise-mobile. Your quote about throwing the automatics out of a window is silly, unless you were talking about automatics for the 13b engines. Anything with such low torque needs to have a manual...

Why do all these people that own these mitsubishi sports cars that weigh as much as some suvs always come in here and cause so much crap to go on.
We should just burn all of the things to the ground.
But honestly without some other modifications, especially if you had a base model with the 14" tires, you shouldnt go past 128mph, because that is what you're limited to.
Unless perhaps if you disconnect the 5th gear switch, but then you'd have the shift up light stay on all the time.
Oh and by the way, driving 128mph down the expressway is fun!
I mean, have you ever hit a squirrel going that fast? WOW!

Um? Weight isn't really an issue to me. It's fast in a straight line, and I do pretty good at the local autocross events.... Plus it's my DD. If I want to drive something that doesn't weigh as much, I have my Rx-7.

mine looks ALMOST as bad as yours, played bumper cars w/ a brand new oversized pickup truck at 45MPH because the (probably) owner's wife
borrowed the truck and was like 5' tall and couldn't see out the windows haha

My 12A FB I got up to 130 with RB header, cheapie cat and Magnaflow mufflers.
My current S4 GXL I got up to 115 without issue but pussed out and slowed down, I imagine it would have gone farther easily.
Maybe your 5/6th port actuators have gone out?

Nah really both times were out on a not heavily traveled stretch of highway at around 2-3am when if anything went wrong the only person to get hurt would've been myself.
I agree though, ******* around on city streets is

One of my friends was driving my car because his was broken, I had the port actuators removed (no auxilliary ports), the timing was retarded 15 degrees and the AFM was mal-adjusted (I had just been working on the car and he needed it.)
He informed me after the trip that it was drag limited at 115 (I was sure glad that it was barely running when he borrowed it, images of a 21 year old car barreling down the interstate at 130+ mph did not sit well with me.)
(He now has trouble borrowing my car.)
My top speed was 90 mph following heavy traffic on the interstate.
The point is that if you (with 14 more horsepower) are limited to 110 mph, you have something really wrong (more than my list.)
