Arrow 1990 Start issue.Rapid Click sound. dash lights flash.

i recently put a radio in this car and it kills the battery. so every time i turn the car off i have to disconnect the battery. i have not drove this car because an overheating issue. i replaced the radiator and water pump. it does not overheat now. i have driven this car once since i put the radiator and water pump on. it ran fine until i tried to go up a very slight incline and it would putter and nearly stall out but it did not stall out. i drove it home that night. i had to park it on a very slight incline where it was raised on its left side. in the morning the car would not start. it would turn over but it wouldnt turn on. later that day i tried cranking it again. it did not turn on. i cranked it for 3 minutes with 10 seconds in between each attempt. i pulled the EGI fuse, inspected it, and put it back. I tried it again. Car started. rough idle. but maintained. i could gas it normally but the idle would not return. it stayed around 300-1000 but it sounded like ****. it was bogging. it did not die. i left it on for 5 minutes. shut it off. disconnected battery. left to school. the next morning. same routine, only this time nothing. since that day i would crank it. it would crank but it would not turn on. Yesterday March 3, 2011. I remove fuel pump to inspect. sock looks yellow. i guess its dirty. i put fuel pump back. Connect battery. Connect jump starter machine to battery. Car beeps sound like ****. i go to turn over car. car clicks and dies. i move jump starter connectors around and tighten the connection to the posts. beeps sound good. battery reading 14v on the gauge. i turn key. car just clicks at this point. rapid clicking sound. no engine response. when it clicks the dash lights flash. i remove battery jump starter. i disconnect battery from the car. notice the positive post is a little warm. Now i am here.

K, that was hard to read - use paragraphs next time.

Just cuz you have 14V doesn't mean enough current is getting to the starter. Your battery may have the voltage, but not enough power.

Try jump starting it, but before you do:
(a) Double check the ground wire that ends in a ring terminal and uses one of the starter bolts (the long one) and a nut to hold it in place
(b) Check the thick positive wire too going to the starter.

When the engine cranks nice and fast move on to other reasons why it won't run right (old gas, flooding, spark plugs, bad idle caused by misadjusted TPS, vacuum leak, etc.)

If the positive post on the battery is warm that is a good indication that you have problems with that post.. Also you could try changing the battery for one that you know is good .. There could be a internal problem with the connections inside the battery . I have seen this happen before .. Check the battery clamps at the battery, If it has after market bolt on battery terminals that could very well be your problem it won't cost you anything to check .. When the clicking thing is happening without doing anything else gently check for voltage between the two battery posts (Without moving or twisting any battery cables ) ..

Well since you just put the radio in the car and it kills the battery, fix it! You could either be shorting the wiring or just running straight power to the radio at all times! Find out what is going on with that radio before you do anything else, it probably was the cause of all your headaches to begin with!

Does the beeping happen when you have the door open only? If so, it could just be you have the key on the ON position, and the door open, and the normal beeper is beeping. The reason it may sound bad is due to your dead battery.
