Question 1990 Rx7 GXL idle problem...

Hey guys. I just bought a 90 rx7 for a grand, clean as hell but was not running. When I bought the car I checked the compression, it was good on each face. It did not sound like a side seal. So I decided it was definitely just flooded. Heh. So i bought it got around the corner pull started it after deflooding a bit and got about two blocks because it did not want to idle and its has a good loss of power. It was running really rich and I found it has a decent sized exhaust leak in the pre-cat. So I towed it home and it has been sitting. I have not replaced the pluggs yet and I have not ruled out that it could have something to do with a coil pack but before I get it diagnosed I thought I'd ask what you guys thought.

Ok so I had it diagnosed by a diagnostics expert who is familiar with rx7s and it came up as the tps being out of alignment and the air temperature sensor in the vane airflow meter. He fixed the tps and had me go buy a new vaf. So I got it installed it and still no progress. I went and exchanged it(just in case) and still the same thing.

It generally will not start. It cranks and tries to fire but it will not unless you put the throttle to the floor and even then it will not always start. Once I get it started I have to keep it above 2000rpm or it will die. Anything under that and it just kills it. I have checked the grounds, vacuum, tps, changed spark plugs, checked the coil packs, and I can't think of anything else. After cranking it a few time to try to start it it smells gassy a bit inside the car but outside you cant really smell it. I don't know, what am I not think of?

So the only thing I can even think of is maybe the air pump. Because when it dies its like I have a huge vacuum leak. I have heard that these go out sometimes. Does anyone know what happens, how the car reacts, when the air pump goes? Would it be anything like this?

no all the air pump does is pump air into the cat and some people just take it out

as far as your problem did you check all sensor connections (i.e afm)

Yeah checked and double checked. This sucks, the ECU is not even throwing any codes. I was thinking though, what about the split air solenoid?
