1990 Rx-7

I have purchased a 1990 RX-7 and I want to know the best type of mods such as: Twin Turbos and Exhaust that I could put on it. Also I have a friend that has a 1999 Civic Si, stock. Could I beat him with my 5 speed GXL stock RX-7?

i'm not an expert or anything, i'm just saying what i've learned so far about turbo mod on the 7...

since you have a n/a, slapping a turbo in the car means you need new ecu to adjust to all that air/fuel stuff... you'll need a tranny that can withstand the power a turbo engine gives, because the n/a ones are too weak... i'm not sure about the rear end, but maybe you need something on that too... so yeah... turbo mod is a waste of money, might as well find a turbo 7 to start with

i hope my info is correct, if it's not someone please correct me, i don't want to give false info to people, plus i'm still learning myself

Go for it, but get it done by a competent garage who is familiar with RX-7's. There's nothing like driving a turbo.

The race between the SI and RX-7 both STOCK is between the driver because their that close. I would say that u will lose. Thiers lots of HP hindering probs with 7s that inexpierienced people dont check like sticking ports , not getting your tune up bald tires or slipping clutch. His car is NEW. But I raced a SI when I had just exaust and filter intake and bad fuel injectors. Boy did I woop on him. This is the guy I worked with.
SIs are slow and dont get much better with mods.
I looked

I asked at the honda forum what thier 1/4 mile times were and stock they say 16s but others will say 15.8 and one ricer said 15.5 and was full of ****. He had something up his sleeve. Some told me with a JRSC and bolt ons will barly pull low 14s. Thats pathetic becuase a maxed out N/A rx-7 without street port will hit low 14s.

Anyways if u want more ansewers go onto the honda forum.
