Nope. He can't sell something he doesn't own yet.
What I'm hearing is he is waiting for the local Department of Motor Vehicles clear the title. Just give the guy a call once a week or so to keep your 1st place in line position.
Good luck. Good find. I'm jealous.

Is there any way to find out what # of the production run a car is??
Im fixin to go pick up a white 90 "S" from west palm beach... and im curious to find out what number it was of the run in 90.

My GTUs ran a 14.06 at the track yesterday, but thats only because i dont know how to launch it good yet. I was getting really bad wheel hop through first, and spinning through second. Anybody know how to eliminate wheel hop? I also kept hitting the damn gate on the 2nd to 3rd shift, i need some new bushings and a short throw

Nope.
Try 16-flat for a normal model, closer to 15.7-15.8 for a GTUs, what with the 4.33:1 rear end an all.
But I seriously doubt it's a 1990 GTUs - there were only 100 of 'em made. There's on in Tally (VIN verified). Pretty cool.

They do exist....
I think there are maybe 3 90 GTUs owners total on this forum (or at least that I've seen claim to own them)

this one is white/blue and needs work... badly. im a little ashamed to put pics up of it cuz its so rough... but for $800, i wont bitch at all. but the paint is peeling off in many places and i dont think the 6PI works right now. but i checked every feature to make sure it was a genuine "S"... right down to the Inflation sticker. "205/55/R16"
On my 1990... i have a feeling Mazda actually made an effort to account for every GTUs... cuz they altered the VIN on my firewall and rivited on a new VIN plate under the windsheild. The one on the Firewall has an X stamped over 2 of the digits and then 2 new digits stamped above it and a ( M ) logo stamped next to the new numbers... like its Mazda's official stamp to prove it was done at the factory? and they did this AFTER the car was painted cuz these "new" stampings on the firewall have surface rust on them but the rest of the VIN doesnt...
Kevin, any idea? IIRC, i think the number says "31" or something like that.
I found 2 black 89 GTUs's. One in Oct 02 and another black one a year later. What a coincidence. I took apart the first black one I found cuz the body was unfixable, so I through the whole drivetrain (tranny and rear diff) and some other miscellaneous GTUs parts into my GTU. Sorry GTUs guys for killing a rare car, but it was the body was just jacked up. For the second one I found, I told one of my friends and he bought it. Made me feel redeemed for stripping the first one. By the way my friend picked it up for 2000 bux because the guy selling it didn't know "what" he had. Plus his wife was the "original" owner of the car and she didn't even know what she had. Go figure.
Is there any way to tell by the VIN that a car is a true GTUs? Also, can fifth gear only be swapped, so it turns maybe 3400 at 80 mph, or whatever the other Rexes turned at that speed in fifth?
Thanks,
Tom

I know I have VLSD.
I dont think the guy i bought it from did anything to it. Seeing as he was using it as a truck before I rescued it.
In fact the car was really mistreeted before I got it.

Uhh. Because both my wheels rotate the same direction when I jack the car up, and i can contol a drift half way decently. I know what Limited slip feels like. I know how it acts. All my friends have verified it (fellows who have been in racing for years).

You probably have a clutch type LSD that someone swapped in.

I think I will drop by it by Mariah Motor Sports today, See what they say about it.
Have them check and see if it is a 4.3 rear end or a 4.1 while you are at it.
And how do you have power windows, but don't have map pockets. All the door panels for FCs with power windows have map pockets
