1990 13bt engine swap
Hey guys, me and my friend have been working on a 1990 13bt rx-7 for the last few months. just before winter we realized the car had problems. we thought it was the maf the fuel pump so we replaced everything and then finally realized the engine was blown. so we pulled the engine out and are going to get a 13bt and re install it. there is just one problem. when taking the engine out we cut the wiring harness going from the motor to firewall on the right hand side of the engine(looking at engine from front of car) now the only thing is that we realized we have to take a lot of stuff off the block to get the wiring harness out. so when we get the new motor we have to either take everything off and feed the wiring through and then splice it or cut the new harness and just try and wire it up properly. theres like 50 wires and if anyone could help me out with my problem i would greatly appreciate it. sorry for the story. i just dont know what to do with it. thanks for any help in advance.
Do Not Try To Splice Your Old And New Harness. Completely Remove The Old One And Install The New One. Next Time, Don't Be Lazy And Just Take Off The Manifolds To Unhook The Harness.
^ do me a favor punch the OP in the Face, then when he asks what it was for be sure to tell him he is stupid. Then when he punches you in the face you dont have to ask him anything because you will know you are just as stupid.
Grab a copy of the FSM, a cup of coffee, and get cracking. You have quite a bit of unnecessary work to do. The harness you cut takes all of 15 minutes worth of work to disconnect from the engine. Now, you'll have to find another drive side harness and rip the old one out. Pull the dash out, you'll need the room to fish that new one back through the firewall and connect to about damn near everything in the dash. Before you go and ruin another harness, just disconnect it from the ECU and whatnot below the passenger footwell and just pull the harness out with the motor. When the motor is out, you can dismantle the manifolds and remove the harness. Take a ton of photos, and mark all of the plugs. Be sure to do a ton of research before you go dropping any random 13bt into your car. The search button is your friend.
thanks guys for the input, sorry for the newb thread. its not my car its my friends but he doesnt have a comp and he asked if i could do some looking around. we both have worked on his car but im trying to learn more about rotary. the car is RHD. thanks for everything it'l help.

You need to buy another harness I tried splicing a rhd turbo harness to the left hand n/a and something went wrong and it didnt work so I just got the correct harness and was done w/ it. But you shouldnt have cut it in the first place its just as easy to pull the carpet up and get to the ecu and unplug the 4 plugs and run it out the firewall.
