1989 N/A Smoking around 6.5-8K

Hi,
My 1989 FC3S N/A is spewing rich white smoke out the exhaust when i hit 6K+RPMs. By the smell of it and what a few people said im 100% positive that its leaking oil into the rotar housing. I was just wondering what is going wrong? One person said leaky side seals but i thought that was for compression. Im gettign a rebuild and getting it street ported but im just intrested in what went wrong with my baby.

Thanks
