Question 1988 Rx-7 Convertible

I HAVE AN 1988 RX-7. WHEN I ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 4,OOO RPM'S IT STARTS TO HESITATE AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. IS IT THE SPARK PLUGS , FUEL PUMP OR FUEL INJECTION? IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE DO SO.

Could be the secondary ports not opening, do a search on 3800 RPM or secondary ports.

Does the car idle/run well below 3800 RPM?

YES MY CAR IDLES FINE, BUT WHEN I ACCELERATE TO 4000RPM IT SEEMS TO HESITATE OR LOSE POWER RATHER. THE CAR RUNS SMOOTH IF I SHIFT UNDER 4000RPMS.

Dude I'm also an 88 vert in Virginia.
Did you just buy yours? Please tell me you didn't get it from Cowles Nissan on Rt 1.

Oh and yeah the guys before my have it right, the faq stickies are a wealth of information. There are also PDFs of a technical manual linked from there that can explain in better detail how to diagnose your problem, but it is most likely the 5th and 6th ports.
