1988 NA lots of probs, help if you can.

First of all, when we got it the brakes were near gone... so we rebuilt the calipers and got new rotors and pads on each wheel as well as new tires. Although...
Problem 2.

The car when you start it, it slowly revs up to 3k rpm and then dives down and dies, you do that 3 times, and then the car catches it and idles properly.

Problem 3.

After the car starts and when you go to drive it... (Note: automatic) Even if you floor the pedal to the ground, the car slowly climbs to 3500 rpm... then accelerates very quickly after that... if the car is rolling at 20mph and is pushed it accelerates quickly as well. Even putting the car in the 1st or 2nd positions don't change the acceleration in any way. Since not many people around here know anything about rotaries , i was hoping that maybe someone would know how to fix these problems.

Or if this is normal... how to boost the torque so it doesn't take forever to get up to speed.

First of all, there is no problem with stated in "Problem 1" so more explination would help us alot since we cannot read your mind

Secondly for problem 2, the first part is normal, reving to 3k that is, now as for it dying, thats another problem. My 86 does that when I do not drive it for a few days. I do not know what you can do to fix it, other than doing the 60k mile tune up, witch is covered very nicely on this forum. It could be a fuel filter clog, or bad plugs. Take a look at the tune up thread and follow it.

Now onto a problem I may be able to shed some light on. For your slow starts there are a couple of things that come to mind. First of all, its an auto. Sorry bro, but these cars in auto are just slow. Don't fret, there is one other thing that you can check very simply, your 5th and 6th ports. There are quite a few threads on here discussing how to check their functionality, and repair.

Welcome to the club, we need more new guys on here. Remember, use that search function!!! I hope that I pointed you in the right direction and I hope you get the problems sorted out.

Problem 2 sounds like a Thermowax problem. Here is the Fuel and Emmisions section of the Factory Service Manual (FSM). Go to page 57 and half way down page 58 and follow the intrustion on checking the thermowax.

The thermowax is used for cold start and brings the engine down from around 1500 to 750-800 slowly as the engine warms up.

The Factory Service Manual can be found in the FAQ For FC thread. It contains all this information and more, and is an essential tool for any sort of service work that needs to be performed on these cars.

Additionally, the Haynes service manual for the 1986 thru 1991 RX-7 (both turbo and NA) can be found at most local auto parts stores or purchased from any good bookstore (ISBN number 1 56392 007 7). It is only about $25 and is a great quick reference for things like this. Not only does it contain most of the information in the FSM condensed into an easy to read format, but it includes full wiring diagrams as well.

These manuals will answer 99% of service related questions for the car and if you intend to do your own repair work, you will need at least one of them. Preferably both, since the FSM is a free download.

Problem 2: Until you fix it, you might be able to keep the revs up with the gas pedal so it won't die the 1st time.

Problem 3: No it isn't normal, but I don't know much beyond that. At least you get power above 3500 and no power below 3500, rather than the other way around. "Other way around" might indicate more serious trouble. I'm guessing you have some kind of control/sensor/ECU issue.

problem 2- thermowax or AFM perhaps, I know on my TII it would start, then die, then I would start it a second time and it would be fine. I replaced the AFM and that problem went away.
problem 3- no clue.... how are your injectors working? fuel pump?
