1988 FC 13b NA Problems.

My 1988 Rx7 13b NA has trouble starting sometimes. Sometimes it will crank over, and then die immediately. Then it just wont start. I found when it feels like it's going to die after cranking over if I gas it a bit, it will start, but then blows a ton of white smoke out the exhaust for a few minutes. I should also mention the coolant reservoir seems to deplete over time, and the radiator does so as well. I add coolant frequently :\

What could be the problem? Flooded w/ gas? Flooded w/ coolant because of seals wearing out? Bad Compression? How do I diagnose and fix it?

Okay it looks shitty, but I'm going to try that Irontite Ceramic Seal stuff I think. Or I also saw this article which used CRC Block Weld. Which is the better/more reliable fix to my dillema? Irontite Ceramic Seal or CRC Block Weld?

Rotary + white smoke after start = failed seals = engine rebuild.

So I hear, but we'll see if this ceramic coating stuff works. I'm trying the Bar's Leak head and gasket fix. Someone else on this site said it worked for them. Hopefully it will do the same for me, I'll post up the results as some time goes by.

I think it's a bad idea. From what I understand it's a temporary fix. After it gives out you will have a hard time rebuilding some of the parts with all of that gunk in there, plus the possibility of clogging your radiator. SOME people have had success with it. Look to see if there are people who've had failures or short lived victories with that before you try it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
