1987 turbo q...

im about to buy an 1987 T-II and i was wondering how different the 87 is from like the 89? would just getting a spearco core and custom pipes be the best way to go with a FMIC? is there any other differences? also, how much work would it be to either A) fit a gp sports kit to an 87 or B) convert it to an 89 on the outside and then go for the gp kit later down the road???

From an aftermarket turbo setup, no real difference. From an OEM standpoint, there's a few internal & cosmetic differences & improvements.

-S4 to S5: S5's have more power and are a bit heavier. Perfomance is aboot equal...do a search you'll find all the differences.

-Getting a spearco core and custom fabbing your IC piping is definitely cheaper than getting a FMIC kit (ie VSPL etc).

-S5 body parts are hard to find, because S5's are hard to find. So if you're planning on getting the GP sports kit, don't bother with the S5 conversion first.
