Well I think I am going to look at a 87 TII hood this week for my car but I was wondering if they were steel or aluminum in 87. Can anyone tell me?

 

Most were aluminum, but some were steel.

It is also very common to see non OEM body parts (read the car was in an accident and the body shop used the cheapest hood they could find, which was made of very thin steel) on cars that have been in accidents.

Just bring a magnet... it will stick to the steel hood

 

I thought that turbos weren't made untill 88? what year did they start?

 

TII's started in 87 - i belive the 87 T2s were also the lightest, correct me if i am wrong.

 

Turbos started being made for the USA in Jan 86 as a 87 model year.
