1987 rx7-putting tranny back in-any helpful suggestions?

I'm reinstalling my manual transmisson after putting a new clutch in (2nd time-had to take back out to replace the pilot bearing, trannny went in fine 1st time) having trouble getting it back in. I'm able to get it right up to the last 1/2" and it won't go that last little bit, and I've been turning the rear gear with the driveshaft. car is on jack stands and 2 guys underneath getting frustrated that it won't go. Is it possible that the input shaft on the tranny isn't going into the new pilot bearing? any other ideas that might help get it in-besides getting a tranny jack. Thanks to all for any help.

have someone to help you, once mine was pretty well lined up I put a pry bar at the back of the shifter hole and pulled back in order to push the trans. forward

You probably don't have the clutch lined up properly. The last couple clutches I've done have come with shitty alignment tools that simply don't work. I've used an old input shaft for years since my first bad experiece. But I still check the alignment tools that come with clutch kits out of curiousity. Most have too much slop in them and allow the clutch to sit off center and not allowing the trans to engage properly. DO NOT try to force the trans on as this can easily tear up the pilot bearing.

Get someone leaning (tipping-pushing) the motor back and then try sliding it in.
