Question 1987 with 88Kmiles

I am looking a purchasing an 87 rx with 88,000 original miles. There is no fuel odor on the engine. Only a slight crustation of anti freeze which I have read a few of your replies to that as normal. Drives well and revs to around 2k then down to 1600 then around 1000 or so. It has the back seat which is really a place to throw a cooler because no midget could fit. My real question is, "Is there a difference between this car and my friends that has no back seat?" I see no real car demension differnce on the outside. soooo.......?

well there is no spoiler but it has a sunroof and am/fm cassette, five speed. What else should I look for? No real markings.

Not a bad deal, but see if they will let you take it for a compression compression check.

yes, my friend told me about the compression test, he learned it from all of you and actually turned me on to this site. It has the old phone dial 4 lugs on it which means it is not a lsd correct?

I kind of like the back seat because of two reasons. The seat seems to lean back more in this model (bad back) and it keeps things from rolling around because you can secure them better.

Look under the rear of the car where the axles come together and see if theres a pumpkin looking thing. But the 4 lug has smaller brakes and only two piston calipers. Its a good beginers car.

well I plan to play with this and drive to work in it. I will be saving up for a 94ish twin turbo if possible. I wouldn't mind restoring this it is in excellent shape and was a one owner car. Original paint windshields and everything.

My friends has a pumpkin in the rear IS and so does this. I know about the brake difference but have not looked into much else. There are so many time wasting replies in the archives it takes awhile to weed through to find the answer you are looking for. Hince the reason I had to ask about the difference in the back seat.

needs waxing. There is a small dent in front right fender where nose piece and fender meet but not a big issue really. Other than that it is really straight. Guys says he will replace the cracked windshield.
