I recently purchased a 86 RX-7, its been bareblocked and i took off the cats, ive been trying to find a ehader but no luck, any suggestions, all ive found say they only get 5 horsepower, so its not really worth it, ive been trying to find a cold air intake as well....no luck, does anyone have any quik horsepower low budget suggestions? Thanks, hope to have pics soon.

www.racingbeat.com
they make the highest quality parts for RX-7's
don't waste your time buying exhaust parts other than catback from anyone else
well at least for n/a

they are thick as hell so they last forever, and their presilencers actually work and last on rotaries.
well worth the money, you can even find these parts used in the for sale forum.

Try to look for a used Racing Beat Header and Presilencer if you can. that will replace all 3 of your cats.

you can get a test pipe that replaces all of your cats but keeps the stock exhaust manifold if you don't want a header.

about the cheapest header you can find would be pacesetter. but i wouldn't reccomend them.

you can also buy a dremel and some grinding stones and take off your intake manifolds and throttlebody if you dare and port match/polish them if you'd like. there are a few how-tos on this forum.

as for cold air intake, the RX-7's frame is really not well suited without lots of cutting, but you can get a cone filter and airflow meter adaptor off of ebay and just make a sheet metal block off plate to block off the hot radiator air. maybe run some dryer duct to get some cold air, or just cut your frame a little and mount a filter up front.

lemme find some links for you

This site is RETeds on the forum. LOTS of great information and a few mod how-tos and whatnot. Most is for Turbo, but a lot is useful to non-turbo also.

How-To on port matching/polishing your intake manifolds

Grounding should be done because the 86-88 RX-7s have horrible cold solder joints and this causes the 3800rpm stumble and a few other psosible problems
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/grounding-how-thorough-discriptive-199558/

The two threads on the forum I pulled from the Archive section of the second gen forum. Right from the top. You should give that forum a look.

Oooh, just found you a CAI thread on the Archive forum too, just your luck

Also, try to read as much of this thread as you can. Lots of good idea, along with some not so good ideas. And some arguments of wether its worth while or overboard, etc etc.

And remember that not everything on this forum is fact, just what someone else thinks is fact.
