$1500 is a good deal as long as it runs ok, and the body is in decent shape, I would hop on that deal. Blue book is higher than that for it. Welcome to the board, there's a ton a guys on here who are rotor heads.

From what the owner says he said it is very fast and it runs great. My main question is. I have a 99 ford escort ZX2 modded that runs a 16.4@84mph in the 1/4 mile. ATX. Now any ideas what this ATX rex would run? Im assuming it's non turbo. The 13B. And 1.3ltr I think?
Oh...And thanx for the welcome.

welcome!
well the time all depends on your driving, but i rember 15's being easly attainable with the n/a's
The rotary gains alot more power from simple exhaust modifications, that with some weight reduction, some tuning and you will be pretty fast

Well It being an automatic I can't see driver skill being a factor. And I know with my scort there is like a 1.2 second diff between a stock ATX and MTX. So ur saying 15's stock is possible with the ATX?

Yeah it's non-turbo there wasn't a turbo model on 86, I have a 86 GXL myself, mine's a 5 speed though,and I haven't gotten to take it to the track. I would buy it!

Possible to turbo the 86 GXL?
ANd also. The ATX trans on my present car sux. Been through 2 in the last 8 months. How are the trannies on the RX7? Can they handle a burnout or hard driving?

you are right, I went and checked. sorry about that, it has been a long time sice I went to that site.
the $1500 is fair, so I wouldn't say anything is wrong other than the normal things that break on all FCs.
this is another good site:

I have an 86 GXL but it never had power door locks or leather seats.

I found one that is also an 86, but it's a 5 sp. for $1000.
There running about 160 hp correct?
Is it possible to convert a N/A to a turbo without rebuilding? What can be run for boost?

K..Another question...Sorry to bug yas in the same post...I just wanna know what Im getting into...
I notice you all refer to cars as FB's, FC's etc. Does this determine whether ur TII or whatever?
How much abuse can the ATX GXL handle? Tranny and motor?
Is it cheaper to just rebuild or buy a new motor if current were to go?
How easy is it to rebuild or swap a rotary motor? Inever really done a full swap but my extents of motor work are changing cams and timing. Fiddling with sensors. Never played with a rotary before let alone have much knowledge on how they are assembled.
And I wanna thank yas for not just ignoring me and helpin me out through my series of endless questions. Thanx.

fc fb and fd refer to the three generations of rx-7s
fb being 79-85
fc being 86-92
fd being 93-95
these two letter are in the vin #
as for the swap or rebuild, im not sure whats best (haven't decided what to do myself) , but you can get a rebuilt for as little as 1000 from some guys on this forum, at rotary shops you're probably lookin at 1500+ for a rebuilt. To do it yourself, you can save a couple hundred, as long as your housing is in good shape i guess. not really an expert, but that might help
