17x7 wheels...to narrow?

I'm looking at some wheels and found some nice ones, problem is that they only come in 17x7...is that to narrow for that staggered look? if not what kind of rubber size should I get that will look best? i don't do autocross so performance isn't top priorty.

well ive found that the front wheels fit just right .. but the rears are in to far ..... so im spacing out 1/2 inch on each side via an aluminum bolt on spacer im not creating mass ammounts of hp so it will be fine and as he said performance is not an issue so im sure a spacer would be good

I just bought 17"x7's and im running 225-45-17's fits perfect. rubs alittle in the front sometimes, but you can get spavers or just run 215-45-17 in the front BTW the offset for mine is 40. these are my rims

I had 17x7's with 225's all the way around and couldn't get traction to save my life... Pushing only 300whp in a 2400lb FC...

I got 17x8's with 235/40's on the front and 17x9's with 275/35's in the rear now though so it's all good in the hood...

Ok I think ill go with 215/45/17 for front and 225/45/17 for the back...does that sound ok? and what are these spacers that you guys are talking about? what do they do and how much are they?

I'd say yes its to narrow, Find some rims that you can at least get some 17x9's for the rear. It will look way better and also give you more traction.

problem is that I can't find 17s staggered wheels ANYWHERE...it's even harder since i'm in canada. I've tried the wheel section of the forum but they're all 5x114.3...i have 4x114.3

It's gonna be hard to find staggered 4x114.3 wheels... Best bet is do the 5-lug big brake swap from a TII/GXL/Sport/'88 GTU/GTUs...

its all about the offset, you may or may not need spacers.

You shouldn't need spacers for 17x7 wheels...

hes talking about making the wheel line up with the fenders, the fronts you wont need spacer if you run 215's but the rears you will have to with 225's I need to do that cause the wheels in the rear are in just a tad bit and im running a 40 offset. BTW with a 40 offset the front wheels line up with the fender.

been reading up on 4 lug to 5 lug swap..seems pretty difficult to me..maybe best thing to do is the spacer? does that affect performance?
