16x7 up front and 17x9s in the back?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if having smaller rims in the front will have any ill effects as far as handling or anything, with a coilover setup.

I'm buying a set of BBS rims with 16x7 ET 43 and 17X9 ET 28.

Thanks

Heres what they look like with 17x9's all around, they are way too wide up front! So i'm buying a set of 16x7's and will have another staggered setup for sale shortly using the remaining rims. I can fit 285's out back comfortably!

it will handle like ****. never stagger tire width more than 10mm and even then its a bad idea, unless it is a drag car and will never see auto-x or hard street driving.

Might have some understeer issues with running such a large rear to a smaller front.

how do stock high end staggered setups compensate for this. Would the car be proned to understeer more so than a stock setup with smaller/less sticky tires?

I'm having a hard time understanding how having the back end being planted could negatively effect handling. I mean so long as the front is sticking better than stock, shouldn't it be an improvement overall?

Your car is going to push like there is no tomorrow. Don't do it. What is wrong with the rims you have now?

Did you use spacers, and have some fender mods? The rims butt up right against my coilovers in the front, and are outside of the fender by 2 inches.

would I be better off putting all 16x7's on there with say 225's? Take into account it's putting down around 350 hp.

what about if I 245's out back, and 225's up front?

I don't see why you would need to run spacers with +15.

Too bad my 17x9's are +28 offset. your tires must stick out the front fender 3 inches! without a wide body.

if the front wheel was wider , at least 9 , then its doable, but 16 and 17 inch tires look to visibly different cosmetic wise,.. 17/18 stagger more acceptable imo.

17/18 stagger is dope on fc.

Also, i'd recommend just going with 17x9 the whole way round. maybe run a 225/235 front and opt for over fenders up front if you're worried they'll poke. If you want you can run bolt on fender flares. I forget who makes them but they're kinda square is..... I'm sure hypertek knows what i'm talking about. They bolt to stock fenders but aren't 280zx style....

16's ftl.

285's are going to rub. 255's on my 16x8+0 rubbed with a mega pull.

That is the drawback to caring about what it looks like. You end up making it look better at the cost of performance... such as putting on 16/17 staggered wheels.
