Question 14s 1/4 mile stock port N/A with 110,000 miles?

Alright question is easy enough, I run 15.2 with only intake and exhaust on my 86. I did this on bald tires but i did it consistanly, so my question, with new and wider tires, and a tuned SAFC i should be in 14s right? and would a RB header offer a significant increase? I currently have 3 inch pipe to rb cat back. Thanks

I have read about NA's that have extensive mods such as streetports or bigger, port-matched intakes, tuned exhausts, etc. that barely break into 14's. Not that I don't believe you, but just sounds a little far-fetched. I don't think you'll hit 14's with just what you listed.

BTW, what kind of exhaust?

Yes it can be done, I have heard guys doing it before. What model is it? And yes a RB header will add noticable power.

My car is as follows:
1986 Mazda RX-7 base N/A
cone filter
Exhaust - 3inch pipe from the stock exhasut manifold back to racing beat cat back.
If you search my name you'll find my timeslip i posted.
15.277 @ 89.10 mph with a 2.1s 60ft
gaining 3/10ths from an SAFC and tires that aren't smooth doesn't seem that off to me, any1 else got an idea?

Id have bet damn good money my N/A was capable of a mid 14 second run. I had a few more mods than you though. Ill list what I had done before my turbo swap:

Superchips reprogrammed ECU
RB Header
Bonez H-F cat
Greddy Cat-back
GTUs 4.3 rear end
Miata Torsen LSD
RB aluminum Flywheel
ACT X-treme clutch/pressure plate
K&N Cone w/HKS adapter
Port matched Intake Manifolds
Pineapple Aux port sleeves
BBS 'Vert wheels (11.5lbs each)
A few weight reduction stuff, etc

The car was very quick for a N/A IMO, not too far off speed wise as my Turbo2 was with an RB 2.5" Turbo-back. If you cant cut a 1.9 or so 60" (gonna be tough, but not impossible) you should break 14s. Your trap speed is pretty low though, so its gonna have to be all in that launch. Good luck I will get another N/A once my T2 is done..theyre just fun.

For $50 I dont see a point in not getting them. I put them in at the same time I port-matched my intake, and installed my RB header, so I cant comment on their gain alone.

i have intake and exaust on my 86 as well, but i have a 3 inch down pipe going in to a y pipe down to 2 1/4 pipes, and also pacesetter headers and i am running a 14.3, so i think since we have about the same setup headers are well worth the money.

And what kind of port are you running on your motor?

We doubted you because you claimed it withou listing all your mods, and most people here know that stock ports with full exhaust and intake don't run low 14's, BTW what ECU do you use? I didn't think the stock one worked to great with ported motors

You can run the stock ECU with a ported motor, but it is a good idea to get some kind of an upgrade, ie SAFC. But it is definately not needed.
