13bt tranny

ok.. i was wondering

will a tII tranny make any difference at all on a 91 N/A engine?

and if so, what will it take to get it to fit on that engine?

It'll make you slower because it is heavier. Otherwise it's just plain beefier.

You'll need:
A custom driveshaft.
Starter
Clutch
And possibly flywheel (someone can double check me on that).

same gear ratios? Am I misunderstanding you? The T2 is definately shorter. It says so on those scans in the FAQ. For instance, in the 1987 brochure it clearly lists the second gear ratio as 2.002 in the M5 and 2.015 in the turbo. Drive an N/A and drive a turbo and you will definately notice shifting at lower mph, or at least I did when I drove my buddy's. Of course I also have aftermarket wheels on mine, but still.

okay if you can tell 2 100ths difference in a gear, then the gears are slightly different.

5th gear is the only thing really noticeable, and even then its only to increase highway mileage.

And you talk about shifting at a lower RPM??? This is not an automatic we are talking about so shifting is what the driver selects...

The tranny Ratios are the same, But the Rear end is different. TII's are what 4:10, 4:11's? I am unsure about N/A's.....

They are ALL THE SAME.

Except for:
Convertables = 3.90
Auto's = 3.90
GTUs = 4.33

rear ends are 4.10 for manual tranny coupes (except the GTUs) regardless of if it was Turbo or not.

No, I meant I shift into 3rd at say 60mph in a T2 instead of 63 on my N/A because the gear ratios are a little different. Taller gears = higher max speed in each gear. I do have aftermarket wheels on my car vs. the stock ones on the T2 I drove, so I think that accounts for most of the difference.
