thx

I honestly can't imagine how drunk you would have to be to logically put new housings in a motor, with a bigger turbo than stock, without using a standalone. Honestly.

You would've probably been better off using good used housings, and a Microtech/Haltech/Wolf computer, rather than an SAFC2 and new housings. Unadjustable ignition curve..awesome!

oh common now guys. I had a stage IV in mine with the stock ecu for a long time with no problems, but of course I was using the s4 ecu with an rtek 1.7 chip (this was before the 2.0 came out). I would say he could probably use the stock ecu just fine if he doesn't go much past 12psi. he would however require some sort of piggy back and of course correctly tune the thing using a wideband and egt gauge. But yall are right, an aftermarket ecu is much better than the stocker.

Build looking great. Im sure you will like that BNR alot more than your old 60-1. Feels weird for me to see a product that was built just a few miles up the road from my house in a picture on the other side of the planet keep up the good work! Beautiful vert btw

Have fun sending apex seals through that when you run too much timing.

thanks man! i knew i would become a ECU discussion...
guys at the moment I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE THAN STOCK ECU AND SAFC WITH AFR GAUGE!!!!!!!!

but you can be sure i will be patient with boostin', after break in i'll be at 10-12psi. maybe i'll advance timing a bit at the CAS, just to be sure.

pics are coming soon, engine went in yesterday

Why is the stock ecu your only option? It seems you know you shouldnt be modifying your car with out a standalone

Firstly lovely car, looks much nicer than my 89 FC2000 japanese vert.

In reguards to the ecu, have you considered a "tuned" stock ecu, like the Re-Amemiya ones? These have more "optimised" timing, higher boost cut and greater fuel delivery than stock.

Secondly for those attacking the use of a stock ecu, remember that not everywhere in the world has such low quality pump fuel as the United States. Presumeablely this car will be run on 98 or 100 octane fuel, as opposed to 91 or 93 (can't remember what the highest rating for the USA's fuel is.). This give's alot more leway than a similar setup in the United states. Sure this isn't a perfect setup like a haltech, but just look at all those 90's Fc's in japan tuned in the same manner that would destroy 95% of the "internet experts" Fc's on here.

A couple of questions. What make and diameter are those headlights? Also what product do you use to get your roof looking so beautiful.

wow thanks... now i see there is hope!

first on the re-amemiya ECU: never heard of it, would be a nice option though!

second: yesss you're completely right! in Europe we have much more room for tuning with stock computers (less detonation issues) 'cause of our high quality fuel. my FC was and will be driven 98 to 100 octane from BP! thanks Worm Burner for this remark!!

i bought the vert three years ago from a guy that imported it in 2001 from Germany. i don't know what happend to the roof, maybe it's been replaced once! all i know is, that he babyed the car for 3 years! if you always park you FC vert in the garage, apply some roof care from time to time, and don't let it sit with the roof down for months, then it'll remain nice and smooth.

ok let's stop the ECU discussions here and switch to some pics

some pics of the porting

Those are some sweet pics, i think its weird how they are new housings but there are those odd markings going across where the ports are, i wonder why the machines do that that finish the surface.

Also, j/w, have you looked into a megasquirt? Theyre only $400.

Edit: what the hell is that wierd thing on the clutch.

I don't know if anyones mentioned this, but just a throught. The injector holes are different between different models. I have 13b-re irons that I am dressing with REW parts and I have found that the REW primary rail won't fit the RE int housing. The REW injector holes are around 5mm longer than the re injector holes. You may need a fuel rail made specificly to fit the REW if you don't have one allready.

second the 13b-re manifolds will bolt onto the rew (although the re port runners are biger than rew so there would be a slight step change that could be filled with devcon or similar). They use factory top feed injectors for the seondairies, have huge port runners and a big throttle body and have a very nice aluminum elbow. I would sell them cheap, PM me if interested.

In the pic where you are installing the front counterweight, it looks like you do not have the inner thrust bearing seated properly. The spacer is protruding from the outer bearing, they should be flush.

Another ECU option is to use the FD Power FC with our adapter harness, if you are concerned about having to rewire the car.

^^^ I was just wondering why they didn't have the engine vertical while doing the front cover stuff...

would be cool but for now it's stock ECU!

that's a centerforce clutch, it has these thingies that strengthen the spricg of the clutch at high rpms, the get pushed by centrifugal force!

thanks but it's ok! he's building these engines since nearly 30 years. we checked the play of the shaft at the end.

would also be a nice idea the power FC, we'll see how it behaves with stocker!

In 30 years you would think that he would have found a few pieces of angle iron and bolted them together to make an engine stand adapter. It makes it much easier to assembly the engine
