13bt lapping

Hey guys, i just took my S5 13B Turbo apart today. Turns out that the center iron on the front rotor side had a crack from the accentric shaft hole half way down the iron. Would explain the no compression...

Anyway about the Lapping. Appon pulling the engine apart i noticed the accentric shaft had quite a bit of up and down play, i'm not sure why it was so much .
It seems my front and rear irons have grooves in them about an inch and 3/4th from the edge of the iron. Its just enough where you can catch your finger nail in it. I Was wondering if i could just get it re surfaced/ lapped and re hardened? Or do they need to be replaced?

If i can Lap/ re harden them, Anyone know of a place i can get it done cheap in Washington?

I think if the iron has a crack in it then it is toast, but I'm not an expert.

without measuring the step wear it is anyone's guess. the nitrite layer is .040" thick, if the step wear is close to or beyond that then the answer is: garbage.

cutting and renitriting the irons is more expensive than a good used set of irons.
